Assistant to the President of Al-Zahra University (peace be upon her) is one of the members of the dissertation defense committee,

Prof. Dr. Zuhair Muhammad Ali Jadoua, Assistant to the President for Scientific Affairs at Al-Zahra University (peace be upon her) for women, participated as a member in the discussion of the doctoral student (Khadija Abbas Sahn) for her thesis entitled : ( of the Resistin gene and the regulation of the microRNA molecule 146 in infected Iraqi patients breast cancer), on Thursday 1/26/2023, at  around (9am) in the morning, at the University of Baghdad / Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.   The study aimed to reveal genetic variations of the Resistin gene and the regulation of the microRNA molecule 146 in patients with breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among females and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in women. The results of the study revealed that most patients were (40-49) years old, with a rate of 42.85%, and the lowest in the first group, with an age of less than 20 years, where the percentage was 0%, where the three groups (benign and malignant control group) were divided into five categories according to body mass index. (BMI kg/m2); In the benign group, the highest percentage, 14 (40%), was obese, and in the malignant group, the highest percentage, 14 (40%), was overweight. For serological studies, an Elisa Assay was used to detect the concentration of mammaglobin  A in serum samples. The results showed an increase in its concentration in the malignant group, with an average of (3.47 ng / ml). The concentration of resistance increased in the malignant group with an average of (4.194 ng/ml). The concentration of CA15-3 increased as a significant tumor marker in the malignant group, with an average of (36.14 units/ml). The concentration of CEA increased in the malignant group by an average of (41.983 ng/ml) with high significant differences. The results also showed that the concentration of Mucin increased in the malignant group by an average of (33.45 ng/ml) with high significant differences. The concentration of AKT increased in the malignant group by an average of (3.173 ng/ml). The study concluded that the combination of the six tumor markers Resistin, Mammaglobin, CA15-3, CEA, AKT and MUC can be used for early detection of breast cancer as well as breast cancer follow-up.
