Peace be upon all of you and may Allah bless you and have mercy upon you.

Al-Zahra University for women  is not only an educational institute but a non-profit scientific development project, as it is introduced by the General Secretariat of the Al-Hussainia  Holy Shrine vowing  that faith and science are two basic sources to bring the individual to safety and security.

This project was launched as an idea by His Excellency the former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa), and then the foundation was laid in the year 2018 by His Eminence, the legitimate guardian of the General Secretariat of the Husseiniya Holy Shrine (Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai) (may he honor last). ;with a holy intention that university academic education shall pave paths for the Holy Institution in bearing the responsibility for building the intellectual and moral systems of society, especially building them with women whom Almighty has endowed with the blessing  of raising generations and the task of raising men of value , and in order to achieve the contents of the principles and values ​​embodied in the building of the humanistic mission, especially in the female Hussainiya mission. It was established on the basis of preparing feminine energies capable of making quantitative and qualitative changes in the scientific, educational and cultural movement, as mentioned in the university's vision, mission and goals.

The university started with three faculties ( colleges) whose fields varied between scientific and human studies; They are: (Education, Pharmacy, Health and Medical Technologies) and according to the approval of their establishment by Ministerial Decree No. (THA/K21890) on 12/6/2018. It was considered the first academic educational institution at the level of a university affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to specialize in females at the level of public and private education in Iraq, while not denying the existence of special colleges for girls in various Iraqi public universities.

It is worth noting that the university made its educational path by receiving female students in the year (2019) and initiated the academic year  despite the chaos that pervaded the country - in October of the aforementioned year - through social networking sites and the force of malicious media escalation and calls to suspend the study and obstruct it by various means to boycott science . There was determination and steadfastness for the entire university’s affiliates and continuous efforts from the presidency, the university’s media and members of the teaching staff, represented by intensifying the awareness aspect in explaining the importance of science and its heavenly status in the Qur’an, the honorable prophetic hadiths and the sayings of the Ahl al-Bayt by organizing counseling programs and weekly stops for university students that we called “Waqfat- Al Watan” is in harmony with the directions of the rational reference and in response to its reform call by peaceful demonstration; Which created the spirit of interaction among our students and the insistence on seeking knowledge in full faith, but with the grace of Almighty and unremitting joint efforts between the Department of Higher Education at the Hussainiya Holy Shrine, the university’s administration and its teaching staff, the university occupied a distinctive space of excellence and exclusivity among public and private universities in which scientific communication lags behind  at the level of the Middle Euphrates and southern Iraq.

Al-Zahra University witnessed a commitment to the enrollment of female students and the educational process continued offline  for the first semester of the first level with the grace of Almighty Allah.

The university aims at continuous progression by extending its boundaries as far as possible with the will and grace of Almighty and acquire an  optimal space in the higher education system among the prestigious universities, scientifically, academically and administratively, as it aspires to leave an   imprint embodying the curriculum of the sponsoring institution of the university. With all its intellectual and religious details, to achieve the goal of educational and professional excellence, and to advance knowledge by adopting standards of quality and sobriety and affecting  qualitative change according to a well-studied methodology and through the implementation of the government program in which the directions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research were summarized and its vision to enter into the national and international academic classifications and to obtain recognition for it. The regional and global levels.

   Towards the conclusion, we extend our sincere gratitude  and appreciation for all the efforts made by the Department of Higher Education in the General Secretariat of the Hussainiya Holy Shrine and the scientific, administrative and technical staff at the university to serve this institution. We ask the Almighty to guide and lead our words and deeds and to help everyone to serve our country, our religion and above all humanity. In the end we pray  that praise be to Allah , Lord of the worlds..and may  peace, mercy and blessings of Almighty shower upon you..
