The first ever university in Iraq to grant an internationally valid licensed medical degree.

The inauguration of the University of Al Sibtain (peace be upon them), International University for Medical Sciences under the auspices of the Holy Shrine of Al-Hussainia. The University of Al-Sibtayn (peace be upon them) for medical sciences was inaugurated on Wednesday,(12/28/2022 ). The great event was witnessed by The Holy Shrine of Al-Hussainia, a number of important staff members of the Ministry of Higher Education, presidents of governmental and private universities, and a group of Iraqi and foreign academic and health guests and personalities. The Secretary-General of the Holy Hussainiya Shrine, Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abaiji, stated, “The successful establishment of these massive projects represents and reflects the constant efforts and directives provided under the guidance of the supreme religious authority, His Eminence, the legal guardian of the Holy Husayni Shrine, Sheikh Abd al-Mahdi al-Karbalai (may his glory last long) in order to widen the horizons of the services of the holy shrines in Iraq Including large and advanced scientific and medical institutions, specifically focusing on establishing health and educational projects as they serve to be the foundations of building advanced societies. The Secretary-General further emphasized that “the projects implemented by the Department associated with the Holy Husainia Shrine do not aim to accumulate and achieve material gain and won’t be regarded as the substitute for state projects, but rather act as a loyal and committed support system to them, in addition to providing study opportunities for students, especially the meritorious, among tough competition and lack of admission opportunities. It has become imperative for The Holy Husseiniya shrine, considering from a religious, legal and humanitarian position, that it contributes excessively in constructing and developing large and advanced scientific and medical institutions and caters the need of the students to achieve their aspirations and hopes, these projects are an initiative to serve the common nationals of Iraq and include all spectrums of Iraqi society. It is worth noting that The International University of (peace be upon them) University for Medical Sciences includes faculties of human medicine, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, nursing and midwifery, in addition to that it includes the most modern laboratories and the first ever hospital to provide applied educational facilities.
